Hello! I’m Karen Thomas from Purpleberry Design. I love to
draw, paint and make cards. Today I’m going to share with you how simple it is
to make elegant Valentine’s Day cards with just a few supplies. First up, let’s
gather our supplies.
For this card we will be using a note card (I’ve used a
natural card to add some dimension), a bleed proof pen (some pens will bleed
through cardstock so make sure you test yours before making your card) and a
decorative brad (this one came from Stampin’ Up). Right let’s get creating.
For this card I’m going to create a flower, so the first
thing I do is adhere the brad onto the card and draw four petals. I like to
think of the circle as a clock and add the petals around the brad at 15-minute
intervals. I find this helps in the even placement of the petals.
Next, I add the rest of the petals and voila we have a
flower.
Because I’m trying for a clean and simple look I now add the stem, but don’t add leaves.
While I think the flower is quite pretty on it’s own, I
think adding the word love balances the card nicely. I added the word to the
card freehand using the pen. However, if you find that makes you nervous then
try it with pencil first. So there you have it a clean and simple card using
three supplies.
Here are some more ideas for you to try.
And here's a look at our finished cards.
